How I met my wife

current song: Welcome In The May

For work, I'm working on an expert system to interview the user about their family; one of the questions is "How did you meet your wife?". I wrote up an answer for it, then realized I should post it here.

I first saw her at a Crosston meeting, in June of 1996. I didn't think much about her at the time; but, over the summer, I got to know her better, mostly on the Crosston mailing list, and came to realize that she was something special.

In fact, I can remember the specific thread that made me realize that. Someone said, "Always practice safe sacks.", and Cynthia replied, "Right. Only sack condominiums.". I just laughed at it; but then klwilliams posted, "This is why I believe that people who don't know Cynthia are missing something special."...and I realized she was right.

(I could probably dig up that message, in fact; I don't delete email. However, remembering where I received it, it's probably on a Zip disk somewhere. I've still got a couple of Zip drives, but neither of them is hooked up to a live machine.)

Nice story.

I have a zip drive in a live machine, if you ever visit and want to pull the message off the disk.

Thanks, but it shouldn't be necessary—I've got a SCSI Zip drive in one of my Bins O' Stuff, and a SCSI card in my desktop machine, so it shouldn't be hard to get it hooked up. (I probably should do it, one of these days, and copy all my old Zip disks onto DVDs.)
