Falling off the caffeine wagon

current song: And I'll never have that recipe again!

I've been off caffeine for about six months now (it was keeping me awake, even if I didn't have any after noon). But, the past few days, I've had really bad headaches; last night, I realized it was probably because Elizabeth head-butted my glasses last weekend. I plan to go to Lenscrafters to get them adjusted; but they don't open until 10. So this morning, when I got off the train, my head was really bad, and I got a bottle of Coke, to supplement the Aleve already in my system. (Fortunately, I didn't actually enjoy it as much as I used to; there must've been an addictive factor at work. I was afraid I'd be sucked back in.)

One amusing note: while I was drinking it on the way to work, I passed an older man who seemed to look askance at me for drinking it in public. I diverted myself speculating on what I'd say if he'd actually said anything. I decided I would've countered that he was smoking, which means I could have been hopping along on a pogo stick, nude, playing "MacArthur Park" on bagpipes, and still been more socially acceptable than he. :-)

I suspect it probably was the beard and the ponytail, not the Coke.

It's been a long time since my Mom taught me that it's rude to eat in public. I don't know if anyone still thinks that.

Could be

Could be. Cambridge has a lot fewer ponytails than Silicon Valley did.
