Long shot: master's thesis reader?

May 5th, 2006 (05:03 pm)

I've decided to do a master's thesis on my microkernel project. I need three people to read the thesis; it's usual, but not necessary, for one of them to be someone from outside the school. Anybody here (a) willing to commit to reading (and judging) the thesis and (b) familiar with the current literature on microkernels?

I expect (b) is something of a long shot...

Are "Pack-Os" what you're going to be eating for breakfast?

I haven't the skills. Would you like me to amplify this signal on my own journal?

Yes, please!

Yes, please!

I've just put up an explanation of what the idea is and what I hope to achieve; if you could link to that, that'll help people decide whether it's interesting.

I wouldn't have thought it was that long a shot. But then, I'm marginally current myself. I don't think we've ever met, though, and there's at least one person we may know in common who would be great. I'll drop a private e-mail...

Hi Lowell -- you met him at Elizabear's potluck cookout last fall; he and I were chasing our twins and we all had matching green tie-dye on. Although he does tend to be shy in crowds and may not have said much. The second picture on his website is fairly current, if you're a visual-memory type person: http://www.thibault.org/newhome/

Oh, yes. That's right. I guess it's unfortunate that I don't tend to geek at those parties, then.

Well, I hope the search for a reader went well. If it hasn't done so, please contact me (I'm not an academic CS type -- MS in engineering instead -- but I'm fairly current on most of the buzzwords in the description).
