Who, me? [userpic]

July 26th, 2005 (09:36 pm)

A few of my recent photos came out pretty nice, and some of those aren't privacy threats (no pictures of people), so I decided to stick them up on Flickr with a Creative Commons Share Alike license (like the GPL, but generalized to non-software works).

No big deal, but some people might like them, and it's not like I stand to profit by not giving them away.

I now know you or a friend were near Chelmsford MA with a camera at some point! I will stalk you based on this miniscule piece of information!

You can probably guess his height from the pictures, too!

You would know more (e.g., model of camera, exact timestamp), but I told it not to display the EXIF metadata. (I was pretty startled to see that show up.)

I like the one that looks toward the pond -- would be a good 'wallpaper' one.

But we've got many pics of the kids up on the web. Why worry about privacy?

(a) Most of the kid pictures we have aren't linked publicly.

(b) Putting them up for people to see is different from putting them up for people to use. I'm using Flickr to share pictures that other people might like enough to incorporate into their own work somehow--and I don't really feel right about doing that with pictures of the kids.

Although Flickr can be used for just showing pictures to friends, that doesn't interest me much, since it's easier to stick them on our own Website.
