Large Martian ocean; white vs. brown rice

From Ars Technica: Ocean once covered the northern third of Mars. Looks like a simple, reliable analysis: they took all the parts of Mars that look like shorelines, discard the ones clearly associated with local craters, then consulted the altimeter data for the rest, and found that they all lie within a narrow range, consistent with an ocean covering 36% of the surface of Mars. (I love that they were able to just pull Martian altimeter data off the shelf. :-)

From Science Daily: Replacing White Rice With Brown Rice or Other Whole Grains May Reduce Diabetes Risk. From the Harvard School of Public Health. Summary: Five or more servings of white rice per week increases the risk of type 2 diabetes; two or more servings of brown rice per week lowers it.
