Call Congress

August 3rd, 2007 (04:07 pm)

The Congressional leadership, Democrat and Republican, looks likely to grant Bush more exemptions from FISA, i.e., more power to spy on you. Apparently, they're determined to push it through before the summer recess—which was supposed to start today, so they're going to stay in session over the weekend.

Please call your representatives (call, not email; we need to flood them today) and ask them to vote no. If you don't have time to give them reasons, you can simply say "I'm a constituent, and I'd like to ask the Senator (Congressman, Congresswoman) to vote no on FISA Modernization".

Most of you reading this are in MA or CA, so here are numbers for your Senators:

  • MA: Kerry: 202-224-2742
  • MA: Kennedy: 202-224-4543
  • CA: Feinstein: 202-224-3841
  • CA: Boxer: 202-224-3553

For other representatives, or for more details, see the ACLU alert.
