"I've long dreamed of such a device!"

March 13th, 2007 (02:54 pm)
current mood: ooh, shiny!

(Sufficiently obsessive Doonesbury fans will recognize the title as being a quote from Boopsie.)

Think Geek is selling a T-shirt with an animated panel (LCD, I presume, but they don't say). Only $25 to have a computer play Pong on your chest!

(And I have thought of such things before...although I have to admit my sights were set higher than Pong. I remember geeking about it with John Defendal in 1993.)

(Edit: having now taken the time to look at it on my MacBook—my Linux box doesn't have a current version of Flash—I can say that I don't want this shirt; the paddles just go up and down, over and over. But Real Soon Now...)

Ow.

We had one of those, actually. It was a Sears-branded product (back when Sears used to be big enough to get exclusive items...), with four paddles and four different games. We thought it was really cool...in 1978.

I saw someone at Boskone who had a working digital clock on his T-shirt using similar technology.

Mad Science

Let me get this straight: I pay $25 so someone else can play with my chest?

Nope
geekery

No, you pay $25 so a computer can play with your chest. It's a recording.
