A followup note on the napalm & phosphorus story: the Pentagon has repeatedly denied using napalm; but what it has used, "Mark 77 firebombs", are essentially the same thing, but made with jet fuel instead of gasoline.

What really gets me here (aside from the horrific deaths, of course) is that it was an Italian news source that broke this story. Clearly, the Pentagon's strategy of co-opting the media to keep bad news from getting out is working.
